No matter how experienced a hang gliding pilot you are, you can never get tired of the views that this sport affords you. After all these years, I’m still blown away by what I can see while gliding during each and every flight. It never gets old. So, like you, I’ve spent time figuring out where to go next. What are the best places to go hang gliding in the world?

Sure, there are plenty of incredible places to go hang gliding here in the US. But the world is a vast place, and there are even more gorgeous places to explore from the air outside of these borders. Some of my most memorable flights have come from places outside the country. In this article, we’ll go over the best hang gliding locations in the world.

Best Places To Go Hang Gliding In The World

Now that you have an idea of some of the best places to go hang gliding here in the states, let’s look outside the borders. There are nearly an endless number of places to go hang gliding in the world, but these are without a doubt some of the best ones.

Interlaken, Switzerland

One of the most popular tourist destinations in Europe, Interlaken is located in the Bernese Alps between Lake Brienz and Lake Thun. The views here are absolutely breathtaking, and you’ll be soaring over snow-capped mountains, green valleys, and pristine lakes.

The weather is also generally good for flying, with spring and summer being the best times to go for warm temperatures, lots of sunshine, and a vast array of colors all around.

The Andes Mountains, Chile

If you’re looking for a place with truly breathtaking views, look no further than the Andes Mountains in Chile. The range extends for about 5,500 miles, and on a clear day, you can basically see forever. While hang gliding here, you can expect to see some of the most beautiful scenery on Earth. Snow-capped peaks, turquoise lakes, and vast expanses of desert all come together to create a truly unique experience.

What’s more, the weather here is perfect for hang gliding in the spring and summer. With very little humidity, temperatures rarely exceed 85 degrees Fahrenheit.

The French Riviera

Chamonix, France

Views from the top of the French Alps are some of the best in the world. When hang gliding over Chamonix, you’ll see sweeping views of Mont Blanc and the valley below. With an average summer temperature of 66 degrees Fahrenheit and good weather conditions nearly year-round, it’s no wonder this is a hotspot for hang gliding.

Queenstown, New Zealand

One of the most popular tourist destinations in New Zealand, Queenstown is unsurprisingly also one of the best places in the world to go hang gliding. The views here are absolutely breathtaking, with snow-capped mountains and pristine blue lakes dotting the landscape.

And since Queenstown is located in the Southern Hemisphere, you can fly here when it's winter back in the US! The average temperature in the summer is a perfect 70 degrees Fahrenheit, making it ideal for a flight.

Danyang, South Korea

Danyang is a small city located in the mountains of South Korea. The views from the air here are simply breathtaking. You can see for miles and miles, with incredible mountain ranges dotting the landscape below you.

Not to mention, there are plenty of other popular tourist destinations nearby that make great landmarks to spot from the sky. The average weather in Danyang is pretty mild, making it a great place to fly year-round.

Fethiye, Turkey

If you’re looking for a place that offers both breathtaking views and an interesting history, Fethiye is the perfect destination.
